the problem w snow: it's not fluffy

A day in the snow is not the ideal way for me to spend my sat...yes i felt it was almost like a complete waste of time...almost...

Having gone to bed at 2 30, but actually slept at 3, i think u guys can figure out exactly why it took me ages (something like 20 min) to get out of bed when my parents woke me up at the crazy time of 7 30!!! AND ITS A  SATURDAY! blah...

Anyway, here are the new develops in my little head that i sort of figured out today:

* I'm still very sick of bacon. Believe me. i tried...i really did...we get free english ALL U CAN EAT breakfast, which of course includes bacon...but after eating 2 strips i def can tell u...i'm still sick of it...which is soooo sad. Tomorrow will be toast galore for me...i'm aiming for something like 10 pieces...we'll see how successful i'll get (yes planning on getting sick of toast tomorrow)

* snow is not as fun as i always pretend it will be...this is the 8th trip i've made to the snow, and each time i stupidly decide that that trip, the snow will def be nice and soft and fluffy and crystal white...ha! AS IF! (sorry i still have clueless in my head) Today was the first time that it actually snowed while i was at the mountain, and intially, its great fun...but after a while, it just hurts and stings ur face and to top it off..it melts the instant it hits u so by the time u've found shelter u're soaking wet...but the most disappointing thing is its not fluffy..never fluffy... just hard balls of ice...makes tobogganing fun though hehe. As w every trip to the snow... i make a personal vow to never return to the snow for at least  2 yrs...i bet $100 my dad will drag me back up here next yr

* while my dad and bro were skiing, i was in the public shelter studying stupid RMP and as always...i drifted off...which leads me to weird places but i finally got to this: i remembered that Tina leaves Melb for Syd today...which lead me to think abt the conversation that i had w her yesterday during lunch...

I didn't really get to know Tina until yr 10, and its been since then that i've always had to say goodbye to my best friend for the holidays...or as is the case now...for the next 13 weeks of uni. and hmmm...i guess her and I have developed this weird survival mechanism to deal w that...bc let's face it...i'm bloody lazy... and the time that she's away from melb, i hardly keep in contact (which btw Tina, so sorry!)

It's tough. And there were times during high school were u sorta feel lonely, despite the fact that family is always there, or that u still have pretty good friends here in melb. Its just that when u're close to a friend...and they leave...well...it sometimes seems like u're drifting until they return

hehe amazingly enough...i seem to always make close friends w ppl who don't actually have a 'home' home in melb...and upon this realisation, tina and i thought i needed more close friends in melb who actually stay here for holidays or uni days or whatever ( i do have those friends, i know...hehe haven't forgotten u guys)

i wouldn't trade these friendships for the world, but as i found out these holidays...they can mess u up more than u think they would...for the first time, i had to deal w four close friends going away bc they had to (and really should go) home so they could visit family, friends...hehe and well...let's say my survival mechanism went into overload and didn't quite do the trick. Probably didn't help that i spent time apart from melb friends too, and i'm eternally grateful to a special friend who called me each night just so i wouldn't feel so crappy

These things get easier to get use to over time i suppose, and just to those friends who do have to go away, this isn't to make u feel bad or anything, its simply an observation of how these things work...

And there's good to it i guess, bc it shows u exactly where u stand in the friendship when that person returns...and if the friendship continues like there was never time apart well...hehe it proves that it was meant to be yeah?

i still consider Tina to be my best friend, even after all these time apart, and that says something huh? hehe so even long distance friendships have great hope...i truly believe that

To Tina, enjoy ur uni days in syd, esp those fun times on the train w ' fake viet boy' aka ' train boy' yeah? will miss u heaps as always and this time let's not get lazy! Every thursday mate, i'm expecting a call...do try to come down for the reunion...i'll drive hehe
