networking again?

Realization #5: Our parents know abt us and how we're going to react to some things. The amazing thing is, we know abt our parents, and we know how they're going to react to some things too.

Hmmm....i smell something weird abt to happen. got a call from my daddy today, saying we're going out to eat tonight. Before he told me anything else, i did an internal groan (as if i could let him hear me groan) bc i definitely knew that future self will be (she's everywhere now) but kinda hopeful that the 'old gang' will be there too, angela and anthony, their cousins etc...

But then dad proceeds to go, yeah we're going to eat at that crab noodle place (its in pinewood, forget the name of it...just down from video ezy...great great great crab noodles...my family of four can finish off 6 FRIGGIN PACKS by ourselves....) and i'm waiting for him to say...yes future self is coming...

and he's like..uh huh...future self will be there (bingo)...and future's self son (paul) and oh paul's friend tuan (yes that's right bec, nads - our study buddy tuan, mr. future pcl tutor) and tuan's family!!!

Now doesn't that smell fishy? apparently future self organized it so hehe i'm sure there's no hidden agenda (and i'm being serious here, not sarcastic) but still...mum also said that derway may be there too...

whoop pi di do...hehe...nah they're a good bunch of guys...but argh...i have to be pleasant me and we all know that our topic of conversation will be abt MED and i'm just going to ask stupid questions like...so in yr 2...how's the...uh...hrs like? shoot shoot me now. hehe i'd really rather talk abt something else..and hopefully those 2 or 3 guys can figure out better conversation...otherwise i'll be talking abt our friggin course and my lack of knowledge abt it (here's hoping tuan doesn't ask me an anatomy question)

to top that off, i'm meeting new parents? i hate that the most. bc mum has her eyes on me like a hawk and i have to be the well behaved (but i'm always like that hehe) and smile and answer their questions of course in vietnamese to show off my well adjested self. The truth is, i do this for my parents, they don't particularly care if i answer w one word or w a whole sentence, but i often show new viet parents, yes i can understand u and yes i can hold a conversation w u, bc yes i want u to know my parents did a great job on me (they really really did) ...of course that causes problems like...well now new parents like my parents lots (esp bc my dad is so socialable) which means more of these dinners which means more awkward moments and more dinners where i have to be nice to the parents...its an ever ending cycle.

i just asked mum if i have to go (sometimes its better to tell new parents that i'm home 'studying', it gives me a better image..hehe...joking) and she laughed it off and said..networking...yes i suppose it is...but really....can i stay home and watch scrubs?

ok...so wish me luck that this isn't an awkward night and that tuan's parents aren't crazy and ask me billions of questions bc omg look..there's a viet girl (shiver a thousand times) - let's all be sorry for the kids tonight ok? hehe ok...hmm...u reckon they'll let me drink? hehe
