med is life
Prediction #1: The M.C (MedCest) will be an award winning drama that has all kinds of ppl around hooked onto it.
It must be a sign of boredom. Or a sign of procrastination. maybe both. BUT mady and i have decided that indeed, our lives - ok i lie- the lives of those around us are so intriguing - we get to make a whole drama series out of it!
It began during a conversation where we were discussing med couple #5 - and how damn fast gossip spreads around the med ppl - somehow i don't think there are lots of uni courses that keep a daily update on gossip abt the ppl...anyway, we looked at how ppl speculate some things and how some things ppl would never pick up on (like med couple #5 - that was ODD) and how there are heaps of little stories that no one ever knows but they're the little stories that keep everyone moving. we also realised that all of these little stories will in some way or another relate back to medicine - hence medcest (although i think this has more to do w the fact that there's interbreding in med).
That's all fun and all but this week must be "look at how much medicine has taken over ur life". It really started when my uni friends came for pho, and leanne was bitching abt a function she had gone to the night before - apparently, the function was full of ppl from the med family (a name given to us meddies and not affectionally either by non med students) and some were couples, some had babies and all talked abt MED only.
Then she and jo started going on abt the different things med students or docs do:
* bring any conversation back to med
* talk abt ppl in med
* make jokes that relate to med
* exclude those not in med w such talk
And while they were bitching abt that, me and carmen were like...oh yeah. we do that, and that, oh and that, and ummm yes that too
Medicine has taken control of my life - and it will probably do so forever - this is one of those professionals where it becomes life and not just a job. I think i always knew it, but i never considered that aspect of it (opps should have done that b4 the interview huh?). And now it has hit me.
I don't know how i feel abt that.
