day 1, again
ah so today was DAY 1 of work.
YAY.
actually wasn't so bad. they have new filing shelves which WERE BLOODY FANTASTIC except the other receptionists still can't seem to keep them shelves looking tidy, so i spent most of the morning correcting them. haha i guess i have really odd things which i'm anal abt, but if i had my own surgery, i can see myself compulsively going out checking the medical records, making sure they're neat. tell u what though, i'm sooooo determined to find a better system - its still a system that leaves way too much room for mistakes.
today was also the day i worked w my mum - and i can see where i get my organizational skills from. she has these systems that she must have (as do i) and yet she keeps a very messy diary (as do i). working w mum was actually fun, she let me do stuff! haha ok so drawing up needles isn't exactly WOW I'M A DOCTOR type of stuff, but its SOOO much better than loooking for a missing file.
speaking of mother and mistakes, i finally admit that i am as stubborn as the rest of us. i USE to be in a state of denial, managing to talk myself into believing that i INDEED can take criticism bc in the end, i'm out there to IMPROVE myself.
what a load of bullshit. mum told me after work that i had to be more careful bc while i did have the right voucher for the right families, i would often put them in the wrong medical file - ie, mother's voucher in the daughter's file and daughter's in mother's. my very very first instinct was to become defensive and go on for abt 10 mins on how it could not be my fault. but then mum was like OH BE QUIET and just take my advice, i realised...hmm....well what's there to say it wasn't me? having only 4 hrs sleep last night, plus 5 hrs the day before that and 4 hrs before that - let's just say i was very very tired. thinking harder, i am quite careless at the worst of times, and this repetitive job can be the worst of times so....
criticism is very hard to stomach.
