yay to no hay fever

lucky thing i don't have hay fever

so, parents decided that today we should have a picnic out somewhere near richmond...and i must say...i'm quite glad that i didn't drive there bc i just got confused...there were the little roads, then the big roads, then the freeway, a choice btw two parks, there is a 'special' way to get into the park and ummm huh? park where now?

we left at 10 50am and did not return home till 8pm...THAT'S RIGHT...wth? hehe why oh why would we be out that long...no friggin idea....but here's the basic rundown..

the bad stuff
* getting hungry - when u have no breakfast and waiting on some sausages, of course ur going to get moody
* having to deal w very nosy parents....here's the basic conversations of the day:
conversation #1
parent #1: so how's med?
me:busy
parent #2: finished exams?
me: finished my written exams...still have a practical
parent #3: ahh....but they're easy right?
me: depends
parent #2: yeah paul has 5 exams its so hard for him...so easy for u isn't christine (they actually call me christine surprisingly.....well...not really...future self was there..)
me: well, its one exam but its really 4 subjects rolled into one...so i have to learn all of it but none of it will be of use to me...
parent #3: but still...easy right? i mean...ur on HOLIDAYS NOW!!
me (in my head): shoot u all down...
conversation #2
parent #4: so, is med really hard?
me: there's lots to do
parent #5: so always busy
me: yes
parent #2: monash med is very practical isn't it? but melb med is more theory
me (in my head): doesn't ur son do pharmacy? how would u know that
me: ummmm yes
parent #2: so ur course would be easy
me (in my head): OMG...STOP SAYING ITS EASY!
me: well...not easy...lots to do...
conversation #3
parent #2 (see, i don't particularly like this parent #2): so, after a year, u must be over ur fear of blood
me (looking very very confused): umm...i never really was....
parent #2: well u were scared of bodies
me: ummm...not quite
mum: she has a real life skeleton in her room!
parent #2: wow...so u must have gotten over ur fear of that too right?
me: i never was scared
parent #2: well my daughter is scared of that. and my niece, she was scared of it, but after going through the monash course she got over it....is that the same for christine? (she's asking my mum)
me (in my head): OMG LADY!!! ASK ME...AND FOR THE 50TH MILLIONTH TIME...NO, I WAS NEVER SCARED OF THOSE THINGS
mum: well....we all knew christine must have have gotten over it when she went into surgery during work experience and didn't faint
(me rolling eyes now...rolling eyes...)
conversation #4:
mum: christine goes out until 12 30! she goes out so late
me (to parent #2): ummm what time does paul come home
parent #2: well...paul usually comes home at 11 30pm
me (in my head): damn it!!! he had to be a nerd...damn damn...
conversation #5:
parent #2: so, anyway, paul tells me that even though he has a gf, doesn't mean he's going to be w her for life...bc i told him i was disappointed that the gf wasn't a viet, but he said that...so i guess...well...what can u do
me: see mum....don't need a viet, and paul's right....doesn't mean u'll be w that person forever
mum: he's a boy dear. he's a boy
me: great
parent #2: yeah, as a girl, ur mum is telling u, u should just find a nice viet boy and marry later
me: ummm...no thanks....i think its too messy...i'll just have no husband..makes life easier
all parents: hahahhaha....she's kidding right?
me (in my head): hehe if u continue to have conversations like this forever i'm not...
* the length of time we spent there
* the 'let's go to parent #2's house' idea....so ill decided...tsk tsk tsk

the good stuff
* what a GREAT SUNNY DAY - it was sunny, but cool breeze!!! I LOVE THE COOL BREEZE!
* my absolutely fantastic snooze on the picnic mat- it was sooooooo relaxing...
* liam, parent #5 and parent #6's 5 month old baby...swear that baby did not cry once from 11 til 6 ok....and boy...its just this chubby looking thing...and in the first half of the day, at periodic moments i'd be like..."ok, boy, so what's ur name huh?" until i couldn't take it anymore and had to ask mum....then me holding baby and going around telling him nonsense all in english...hehe that's right...undermine the vietnamese he's learnt...undermine it!!! hehe nah....he was just really cute and rolly polly...
* the FOOD!!! sausages were a little disappointing...but that didn't stop me from having 5 pieces, 2 w bread and then the fish! OMG GOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD STUFF...i had 5!!!!! of those vietnamese rice rolls bc of it!!! and OMG....HOME MADE SCONES!!! SO BRILLIANT and mum's sour and choc chip cake....DROOL....hehe i'm so full that i'm skipping dinner..so that's no brekky, no dinner...and still bloody full
* some of the parents conversations
- i can't be bothered writing it up like the bad stuff bc its too long...but basically, parent #5 was wondering if she should have another kid and should it be a girl and so she was asking around...and suddenly, i find out the parents are having an amazingly interesting conversation abt the pros and cons of having a single child, or 2 or more children. basically, there's pros and cons to both, but the best thing that came out of it, was when i interjected (which was many many times) w : "see mum, ur lucky to have me!" which met w many replies from the other parents: " u know what? u are lucky....i mean...she's hardworking...got into med...well behaved...and is here at the picnic (EXACTLY!) ...u are lucky..." which promptly left mummy and daddy speechless and me grinning at them...cheekily...hehe

not bad not bad....ah...oh well....good news too is that i MAY be able to get out of going to rye on tuesday: "but dad, anthony is studying for exams! and i'd just disturb him...let me stay at home and disturb my other friends...hehe"

- it's semi working
