be a vet

in case anyone was counting, apparently this is my 270th post. woot.

anyhow, i just had like a memory bulb light up and remembered how a patient walked into one of last weeks clinics and sat there peacefully as he was subjected to 9 med students' pair of eyes and the dr teaching us weird and wonderful things abt his condition (well it was less abt his condition and more on how to do a fine needle aspirate...so u just prick, just keep pricking). he's parting words to us however was 'BE A VET'. a little random, yes? he wasn't a vet himself. it was rather hilarious.

i've noticed that in my 2 and a half years doing med (ARGH) every so often i have career identity crisis. where i sit around going WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING kinda thinking. its scary as hell bc U DON'T WANT TO THINK THAT when ur looking at ur career, but it happens.

i envy those w the greatest conviction that THEY WANT TO BE HERE. bc i would really love that kind of security. however, recently, i found i wasn't the only one who's been have these identity issues.

the thing is though, i can't picture myself doing anything else anymore. yep, medicine has truly taken over. even the olden days where it was like OOOH I COULD DO COMMERCE has vanished. actually, the other day, i found myself kinda thinking NAH don't want to do the business side of med anymore, just do medicine.

it's just...again...what i learn matters. bc if i don't learn it properly, someone could lose their eyesight, there movement, their thinking, their life. still something that doesn't sit well w me. hehe and u'd think, for someone who thinks that...study would be continous. it's far from it.

sigh. there is the NEED to do it. just need the MOTIVATION. and there is. truly there is. its just when ur faced w the NEVER ENDING KNOWLEDGE that i need to learn....its just crap to have to face.

in other news, don't u just love random meetings w random ppl? hehe happened to us on friday night. a group of 6 suddenly became a group of 20 and suddenly ppl we knew from different pathways were meeting tog in one little area called the glen. it's very confusing...and just shows u how small the world really is. i kinda like how u can just tap into these things and bang, meet new ppl left, right and centre. so the moral of the story is, to meet new ppl u need to find that one special moment, where ppl flock and come tog and ur friends know other friends who know other friends and everyone is friendly. it's hard to manouver that.
