training day

blhdsdfkd shed fsdaeoifkds a.

argh.....hehe i'm so tired....work up at 7am today just so i can go do some training at my new job.

for ppl who don't know, i've been asked to be a GP receptionist for future self for around 2 months or something like that.

The working days are apparently, mon - friday, half days, 9-1
and full day saturdays.

so i went to train today. and at first, was told that i was meant to observe only...
but i get there and the receptionist decides to let me do EVERYTHING.....

and omg.......RESPECT FOR THE RECEPTIONISTS!!!

TODAY ONLY i had to deal w
* angry patients who have been waiting forever
* patients who come late bc they "slept in"
* patients who just turn up bc "i just got sick"
* patients who just want their medication prescribed
* patients who are insistent on meeting future self - but she's not here
* stupid invoices
* filing system that is pretty shit
* office program that is pretty shit
* dodgy patients
* patients who don't speak viet nor english....me: blink blink....
* phone calls

what i'm uncomfortable w at the moment:
* when pregnant ladies walk in, it is the receptionist's job to check their urine. that's not the problem - the problem is it was obvious that receptionist was taught abt hygiene and the like, but most have forgotten bc...she put on ONE GLOVE, but w that one glove held the cup, and w hand that held the stick to dip into urine, she had no glove.....ummmm.....ok then....
* dodgy patients! - walking in, w weird looks, w dominant partners expecting to be seen by doctor straight away wo any appointment, and no medicare card either....hmmmm....
* patients who constantly yell at receptionist for the wait...well...patient...if u had bothered to BOOK...it may get u somewhere...(its more furious, bc there's nothing really up w them...as in...well...their illness can wait a while compared to other patients..)

the good things
* doing that medicare swiping thing onto that slip thing that the patient signs for.that's so cool...hehe....had lots of fun doing that!
* future self has a GREAT RANGE OF CANDY...and since she's not here...i get to EAT THEM all...AND its not cheapass candy either....CONFECTIONARY COMPANY or whatever....the ones w unartificial something or rather...they were yummy
* listening to video hits all morning - hehe finally, some new music yeah?

the day was extra hard bc...well....all OF IT WAS IN VIET!!! my phone conversations SUCKED BIG TIME...

and i'm a little worried...i still need to learn the art of TRIAGE...omg....chosing which patients to accept (the patients who decide to rock up from no where) who should go first, who's got higher priority etc etc....

and apparently, today was an 'EASY' DAY......omg....i don't know if i can handle it when future self comes back (she's fully booked from 8 30 to 6 when she gets back - NO BREAKS) and when she's here, there's TWO doctors too, so two piles....etc etc...

argh

ps. is it naughty of me to be checking out the guys my age who happen to walk into the surgery?
- and if it is naughty, then i must definitely not look at their health records right? right.
(don't worry, i did check out the guys, but there was no looking at their records....i still have my morales....i think...hehe....)
