melb med ball

so i went to the 'other uni's' ball. it was a bit weird. it was like a bunch of ants and i'm miniscule ant who has just migrated from the country, messing it up w these ppl. haha i have way too much time on my hands.

it was fun in that i spent more time w friends from high school. in fact, the three of us who aren't part of the course spent all our time tog. that was lots of fun. i am however a little disappointed that i didn't meet many new ppl. there was a point to going. u know, increase the networks, the connections. oh well, must endeavour to keep going.

its weird though. they most certainly have a different mentality to monash which i found rather hilarious. its actually quite difficult to explain what i mean. but they sort of appreciate different things. like at monash, RURAL is cool and CLINICAL SKILLS ARE THE BOMB. if u want a monash student to learn, u tell them CLINCIAL SKILLS will be taught and they'll be there. whereas, at melbourne, RURAL is shit and CLINICAL skills isn't really a concern...yet. there's more interaction btw the 1st and 2nd years. like lots more. there's some at monash i suppose....but not lots. haha as an 2nd year, i feel like our 1st years sort of look at us in awe (i know, self centred = me) but some do, esp if u crack jokes abt anatomy or u go up and speak to our own version of Dr.Cox and can crack jokes...bc they're scared shitless of the man. whereas, 1st year at melb sort of like friends. which is great i reckon. but eh, here's hoping next year i'll be able to become chummy w any year.

oh and of course, there's the 'careful' conversation that always seems to be touched on. which course is better??? too tough to say i reckon when we're in the course and haven't experienced the other course ourselves. but kay and i often have this rather, friendly rivary going on abt our courses. i think in the future, for the both of our sakes, i'll try and not end up working next to her, bc we'll just try to outsmart each other in too many ways- i don't really care actually, but kay knows how to spear on ur competitive side. and who am i to step down from a challenge?

speaking of challenges, i must really start studying. 3 exams coming up that makes the rest of the year irrelvant. 3 exams that could determine just how much fun i have this summer. 3 exams that allow me into hospital next year. how damn daunting.
